Voices of Experience
Candid conversations with the leaders, technologists and operators shaping radiology. Hosted by Dianne Keen.
Voices of Experience is the AbbaDox radiology podcast, hosted by Dianne Keen. Since 2023 it has put the people who run imaging on the record, one subject at a time and in their own words: practice owners, CIOs, radiologists, policy leads and patients. Survival is Not a Strategy
Kurt Schoppe, MD on why getting through the next shift is not a plan, and what radiology has to fix before somebody outside it decides.

Beyond the Images
Policy decisions affecting radiology do not start in the reading room, but they absolutely end there. In this special Voices of Experience conversation, Dianne Keen is joined by Amy Patel, MD, and Kimberly Beavers, MD, two breast imaging radiologists who have spent years turning physician experience into policy action. Together, they explore why advocacy matters, how relationships with lawmakers shape patient access, and why waiting until a rule is final is already too late.

CMS 2027: Beyond the Cut
In this timely Voices of Experience conversation, Dianne Keen, FRBMA is joined by Kit Crancer, SVP of Public Policy at RAYUS, for a deeper look at the 2027 CMS proposed rules and what the headlines may be missing. Together, they unpack how MPFS conversion factor cuts, specialty-table offsets, and sweeping OPPS site-neutral proposals could affect radiology practices very differently depending on setting, modality mix, and payer dynamics

Next in Line with Allisar Charara
In this episode of Next In Line , Dianne Keen is joined by Allisar Charara, Sales Leader at StreamlineMD , for an honest conversation about what it means to grow into leadership early. Starting her career fresh out of college and quickly moving into complex conversations across radiology software, EHR, and revenue cycle management, Allisar shares what it looks like to keep learning in public while earning credibility in a fast-moving industry

On the Road Again
The deals get made after the sessions end, if you did the prep first.

The Magnet is Always On
Most MRI safety failures start with a small assumption, not a dramatic mistake.

The Evolution of Patient Access
When you can't hire fast enough, patient access has to be rebuilt, not just outsourced.

Private Practice at Scale
Staying physician-owned at scale means saying no fast, and growing without giving up control.

Next in Line
The next generation of radiology leaders is rewriting recruiting around trust, transparency, and showing up.

What Happens in Vegas... is a Lesson in Leadership
Recorded live in Las Vegas, Dianne Keen sits down with Carrie Berlin, Co-CEO of Regional Medical Imaging. RMI was founded in 1985; Berlin joined in 1989 and worked through the front desk, the billing department and the IT department before stepping into leadership. She is candid that she has never read an image and has never been in direct patient contact, and equally clear about what running those departments gave her. When someone on her team describes a problem, she has done the job herself, and she says they are sometimes surprised she can still have the conversation.

How AI is Making Radiology Better
Recorded live at the Imagine Client Conference in Las Vegas, Dianne Keen sits down with Michael Brozino, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at Maverick Medical AI. Brozino came up through radiology's last great transition, eleven years at Kodak as film gave way to filmless and eleven more at McKesson, and he uses that history to explain where text-based AI actually fits. Not the vision AI that reads the image, but a model that reads the unstructured report the way a coder does, pointed at the part of the business that is repetitive, high in volume, and expensive when it is wrong.

Pressures and Possibilities
Demand keeps climbing and radiologists keep absorbing it, where technology can finally ease the strain.

Policy, Patients, and Participation
Reimbursement rules and site-neutral payments decide who gets imaging. Advocacy is how you shape them.

Story of Strength and Advocacy
A survivor's view from both sides of the scan, and why access delays cost lives.

The OBL Conversion Crisis
The call between inquiry and scheduling is where practice growth is won or quietly lost.

Hospital Relationships
In this episode, Dianne Keen is joined by healthcare leader Jonathan Pine for a discussion on the evolving relationship between radiology practices and their hospital partners. They explore the shifting dynamics that began post-COVID, when radiology groups, once operating independently without hospital funding, now face declining reimbursements, increasing workloads, and a tightening labor market. The conversation unpacks the growing need for hospital stipends to sustain quality patient care and attract top radiology talent, especially in interventional radiology, which often anchors a hospital contract. Topics include fair negotiation strategies, leadership readiness, and the role of outside consultants in preparing practices for these critical conversations

PaRADigm, Participation, and the Heart of RBMA
In this episode, Dianne Keen is joined by RBMA leaders Jessica Strouve and Megan Pavlaka to discuss how RBMA is fostering leadership, education, and community across the radiology industry. They explore the value of volunteerism, the speaker selection process for PaRADigm, and the welcoming environment RBMA offers to first-time contributors

Why Independence Matters
In this episode, Dianne Keen joins leaders from Strategic Radiology to discuss how independent practices are responding to workforce shortages, declining reimbursements, and growing industry consolidation . They explore how Strategic Radiology supports its 44 member groups through shared data, cost-saving partnerships, and a collaborative ownership model. Topics include radiologist and technologist shortages, AI adoption, and the impact of outdated payment models, offering insights into how independence, innovation, and mission-driven leadership are shaping the future of patient care

Dianne's New Job
Join us as we learn more about Dianne Keen’s new job and what led her to join a healthcare IT company.
More than one voice on one topic
8 recorded roundtables where several practitioners work through a single subject together, from MRI safety and breast screening to operations and IT.
“I am your host, Dianne Keen, and together we’ll explore the world of radiology.”
Dianne has spent more than 25 years in healthcare marketing and business development, at Radiology Partners and Northside Radiology Associates before joining AbbaDox in 2023. She sits on committees at the RBMA, SIR and OEIS, became a Fellow of the RBMA in 2022, and took the RBMA Changemaker Award at PaRADigm 2024.
She started the series the same year she arrived, and the reason she gives for joining is the same one the show keeps returning to:
“What I’m most excited about is that not only does AbbaDox help staff in the imaging centers, but ultimately it helps the patients.”
Since then the guest list has run from practice owners and CIOs to policy leads on the Hill and patients telling their own story. The through-line is people who actually run radiology, talking about what the job is really like.
She does not host alone. Phoebe Valentine has co-hosted at least eleven episodes since arriving as a four-pound puppy, and by Dianne’s own account on air she is “as usual, falling asleep on the job.” She is a dog.
Who should we talk to next?
A topic, a guest, or a question you want answered on the show. One line is plenty.
