SiiM 2023: Revolutionizing Radiology Workflows with AbbaDox Cloud Native Solutions

The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SiiM) 2023 annual meeting marked three days filled with innovation, education, and inspiration. Imaging IT experts, developers, vendors, and clinicians from around the world gathered in the heart of vibrant Austin, Texas for the meeting and InformaticsTECH Expo. 

After checking in, the meeting kicked off with a big Texas-style welcome at Stubbs BBQ, where attendees enjoyed live music and even livelier networking as everyone was excited to reconnect. Though we didn’t catch the famed action of the legendary bats on Congress Street (they seemed to stay in hiding that night), the team was still flying high for the start of SiiM 23!  

On Thursday, the meeting was in full swing, and attendees had the opportunity to engage with industry experts and vendors throughout the Expo and various “Tech Talks.”  

Industry professionals led thought-provoking sessions around key topics like AI, data development, clinical research trends, and workflow optimizations.  

Nick Avossa, AbbaDox’s Head of Solutions Engineering, presented a powerful Tech Talk around the evolution of modern practice operations, titled “Revolutionizing Radiology Workflows with Cloud-Native Solutions.” Thanks to SiiM's use of radio channels and handheld broadcasting receivers, attendees were able to tune into Nick's talk from not only the audience but anywhere in the main hall. 

Rather than a standard presentation, the Tech Talk format allowed presenters to showcase their personality and unique company vision in a more informal and interactive environment. During his time on stage, Nick shared AbbaDox’s innovative approach and vision for radiology practice operations with the current trends in imaging informatics. By moving from multiple, disjointed point solutions, to a centralized, cloud-native platform, practices have the flexibility they need to keep up with constantly evolving trends while reducing operating costs and operational bottlenecks. The ultimate question is how to optimize patient care and patient experiences in a way that also benefits practice profitability and staff capacity – AbbaDox is the answer.

Beyond the Tech Talk, AbbaDox team members greeted scheduled and walk-in demo appointments throughout the day at Booths 528/530. A barista served up hand-crafted specialty coffee in the booth while the AbbaDox team served up interactive demos and conversations around its cutting-edge workflow solutions.  

The team also took the opportunity to interact with technical representatives of prospective customers. The conversations gave AbbaDox insight into specific use cases and potential obstacles in their workflows that AbbaDox solutions could troubleshoot for. 

While Friday marked the end of the trade show, the spirit of innovation and collaboration continues to carry forward.
